To give you an idea of who we are, we enlisted the help of our siblings to write this section.  This was probably a dangerous thing to do since they grew up with us and know practically everything!  Nonetheless, we appreciate their candidness, and hope you don’t hold anything they say against us!

Ryan

Written by his sisters, Sarah and Amy

 Fast Facts:

  •  Hometown: Iowa City, Iowa
  •  Birthday: November 24, 1984
  • College: Iowa State University, majored in Microbiology and Genetics
  • Currently: Working for Integrated DNA Technologies
  •  Siblings: Two younger sisters; Sarah and Amy
  •  Favorite thing about Diana: When she scrunches her nose, her energetic personality, and her passion for family

Ryan is a fun, easygoing and caring guy. This is clearly evident by the things he has done to us since we were born.  This includes convincing us that he could get x-ray vision from eating boxelder bugs, and “protecting” us from our prom dates.  He graduated from Iowa State University (where he met the love of his life) in 2007. After beginning work on his PhD at Penn State, Ryan returned to Iowa City where he is now working for Integrated DNA Technologies.  Ryan’s hobbies include camping, video games, hunting, and being a wonderful brother to two charming sisters.

Diana

Written by her brother, Brian

 Fast Facts:
  • Hometown: Marengo, Illinois
  • Birthday: May 14, 1985
  • College: Iowa State University, majored in Industrial Engineering, minored in Business
  • Currently: Project Engineer for General Mills in Belvidere, Illinois
  • Siblings: One younger (but much taller) brother, Brian
  •  Favorite thing about Ryan: The fact that he’s great at cooking, has great “skills” (construction, electrical, computer, etc.!), and how much he cares for those he loves

So when it comes to my sister Diana, there are two things than need to be understood. The first is that she loves to smell everything, and the second is that she loves Ryan Berg very much.

I have had many understandings throughout my life, and the fact that my sister loves unconditionally even if it hurts is one of those. For instance when I was young, my sister couldn’t keep her hands off me.
Whether she was forcing me to give her a kiss, picking me up by my neck, pushing me out of tree houses, or perhaps dressing me up in make-up and walking me around the neighborhood; I could always feel her love.

Whether that love was doled out in a physical or emotional means varied by the day. Yes, it may have been the typical brother and sister relationship at first look, but underneath that entire mildly abusive persona lies an individual that I am honored to call my sister.

Congratulations “Dinah”, you will always be my “little” big sister.
