Kate Wiegert – Maid of Honor

Kate Wiegert is one of Diana’s closest friends from college, and the reason that Diana and Ryan first met.  Additionally, Kate and Ryan went to high school together.  Kate and Diana met in their first week of college during marching band camp, where they both played the mellophone (special recognition to those who know what a mellophone is!).  Aside from being Diana’s former roommate, Kate was also Ryan’s former homecoming and prom dates!  Don’t worry though, it was just as friends.  Kate graduated from Iowa State University in May, 2007, and is currently a med student at Duke University.  Some things that Diana and Kate have in common include the ability to play the French horn, a love for Josh Groban music, and insanely curly hair.

Sarah Berg – Bridesmaid

Sarah Berg is Ryan’s prettiest sister.  After graduating in May, 2009 from Iowa State University with a degree in Psychology and a minor in Spanish, Sarah plans to spend a year helping immigrants with the Border Servant Corps in El Paso, Texas.  Some of Sarah’s craziest adventures include spending a summer sleeping in a chicken coop, skydiving, and traveling abroad to Spain, Costa Rica, and Guatemala.  Sarah and Diana spend their time together on the computer designing their dream house, keeping Ryan well-groomed with a pair of tweezers, and taking the quizzes in Amy’s Seventeen magazines.

Amy Berg – Bridesmaid

Amy Berg is Ryan’s other prettiest sister.  She enjoys swimming, spending time with friends, and posting pictures of dogs around the house so her parents would eventually get one (it worked!).  She will graduate from high school in May, 2010 and will spend the beginning part of her summer traveling throughout Europe with her orchestra.  Amy is a pretty spunky girl, as she once played football in her prom dress, broke the top of her bass right before a concert, and told Diana to expect a sympathy card for the wedding since she’d have to spend the rest of her life with Ryan (she was joking…we think!).  Amy and Diana like being Ryan’s personal shopper and decorating Christmas cookies to look as bizarre as possible.

Mandy Harkness - Bridesmaid

Jon Lamb – Best Man

Ryan and Jon have been best friends since seventh grade.  After graduating from the University of Northern Iowa with a degree in Physics, Jon is now pursuing a second degree in Engineering at the University of Iowa, and is considering pursuing his Master’s in Structural Engineering.  Adventurous is one good word to describe Jon, as there is very little that holds him back.  Despite his fear of heights, Jon recently went skydiving (and they didn’t even have to push him out of the plane!).  Jon has also competed in a marathon, and spent most of his time in college traveling around in a bus while running in track and cross country meets.  Jon is known to be a bit random, as he owns a pair of glow in the dark pajama pants, takes along a “snack stash” wherever he goes to appease his large appetite, and is sure to bring his tiny Mickey Mouse suitcase whenever he visits Ryan.  Jon and Ryan enjoy playing Guitar Hero, frisbee golfing, and rekindling memories of traveling around in Jon’s 1984 Toyota Camry (affectionately known as “Butch”).

Brian Gualillo – Groomsman

Brian is Diana’s favorite (and only) brother.  Of course, Diana never thought she would have to deal with having a significant other named Ryan, and a brother named Brian – due to the similarity of their names, the two have been confused for each other more than once!  Brian is currently studying Marketing and Entrepreneurial Studies at Iowa State University, where he represents the school at as “Cy” the mascot (read: he dresses up in a bird costume at each athletic event, where he parades around for the fans).  This act most likely stems from the early years, when Diana dressed Brian up in outrageous costumes and sent him wandering about the neighborhood. One of Diana’s fondest memories of Brian was when he and a friend were on a road trip to Colorado, but made a wrong turn and accidentally wound up in Missouri.  When Ryan and Brian are together, they enjoy making frequent trips to Best Buy and Frisbee golfing.  Brian’s hobbies include playing his guitar, photography, and caring for his fish: Freckles, Chubs (the fat fish), Angel, Homeboy, Franky and Suesy (also the name of his parents).

Robbie Parker - Groomsman

Ryan and Robbie are college buddies, high school buddies, and Boy Scout buddies.  Robbie graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, and is currently a graduate student at Texas A&M university studying alternative energy.  A newlywed to one of Diana’s great friends, Robbie and his wife Jill have been a special part of Ryan and Diana’s relationship since the very beginning.  Robbie’s hobbies include playing guitar and learning about cars.  Ryan and Robbie have enjoyed their road trip to Colorado right before college, camping trips with their Scout troop, and many rounds of Frisbee golf.

Dan Field - Groomsman

Dan and Ryan have been friends since they were two and have had many adventures together.  Dan is a graduate of the University of Iowa with a degree in Electrical Engineering and is currently getting his Master’s degree there as well.  Dan is Ryan’s sounding board for anything technology related, and has also been known to save Diana’s computer from impending doom!  Dan and Ryan enjoy playing video games together, building computers, and late night burrito runs to Panchero’s.
